PING check, monitors the accessibility and performance status, response time and packet loss values of any web site , web service or any IP address accessible over the internet with the help of ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol). After you select the parameters, such as monitor address and frequency, you can set up your criteria for your monitor to be successful. These criteria are;

• Success of PING result
• The response time is below a certain amount of time (delay)
• The response time deviation (jitter) is below a certain percent

PING check can also perform the Traceroute test. If your traceroute option is selected, it is also possible to select the Traceroute protocol as TCP or ICMP.

After you select success criteria, you can also select failure criteria with data rule. The options are;

• Assume downtime, if any of the probe results are unsuccessful.
• Assume downtime, if all of the probe results are unsuccessful.
• Assume downtime, a specific ratio of the probe results are unsuccessful.

These selections allow you to choose how sensitive the measurements are to the fault. By selecting the following alarm criteria after the data rule, you can receive alarm notifications when there is an degredaton in performance that does not meet your defined success criteria. The alarm criteria are as follows:

• Alarm is active
• Notify if measurement is unsuccesful for a number of measurement periods
• Notify when the monitor is successful again
• Refresh alarm at a specific period of time

You can select the users you want to be notified whan an alarm occur, and then decide how you want to receive the notifications. Notification options include;

• Email
